Rural communities hold incredible potential, but women, youth, and people with disabilities often face barriers to income, skills, and decision-making. In many rural areas, unemployment is high, access to training and markets is limited, and persons with disabilities are often excluded from economic opportunities. Women carry most caregiving and farming responsibilities but have less access to land and finance, while many young people leave for cities due to the lack of local opportunities. By investing directly in these three groups together, we unlock skills, labour, innovation, and leadership that already exist within communities. This is one of our key projects where we train and prepare women, youth and people with disabilities for decent work through practical skills development, confidence building and direct links to employment and self-employment. Many people living in rural communities possess talent and potential but lack access to training, tools, professional CV development, interview preparation and employment networks. Our Rural Work Preparation Project bridges this gap by equipping participants with workplace readiness skills, career guidance and opportunities that improve employability while also supporting entrepreneurship.
